GEM makes a daily women's vitamin replacement made all from whole foods and herbs. They hired me to help build out their scientific advisory board and process for evaluating new product development opportunities.

  • Project Description
  • Before 2020 GEM had only had one product on the market. As with any early stage company, they were transitioning to a new phase of the company where they would need more formal processes to allow for rigor, repeatability, and task delegation. I was responsible for designing the internal product development engine for future new product lines.
  • My Work
  • My work was split into several projects. One was analyzing which types of professionals and academics to recruit to the scientific advisory board, and then managing their actual recruitment. A second was project managing the development of two new products, to be launched in late 2020. The third was building out a process for evaluating new product development opportunities, identifying the risks associated, and tracking their progress in development in a systematic and rigorous way.
GEM is a strongly mission driven company, and I worked to design a product development workflow that was both deeply data driven and deeply values driven.

Like most of my contract work, I am unable to share specific details about the work product.
